Our Belgian organisation is looking for a new colleague to help shape the future! You will be the IT leader for our sites in Mechelen (HQ and this position’s place of work), Hoeilaart and Seneffe.


You are responsible for managing IT operations , addressing issues and questions, and communicating priorities and directions between the Business and Corporate IT. The successful candidate combines strong technical skills with relationship management to procure and apply resources from Corporate IT in fulfilment of business requested solutions. You will drive the implementation of IT services at both sites, ensure timely resolution of end user problems and enable continuous improvement and innovation through surveying the organizations of the different sites and gathering the voice of the customer.

Your main tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring uptime of IT infrastructure and hardware:server & storage systems, switches and telecom, laptops, printers and other peripherals.Uptime of network including Data, Wireless, Voice networks, modems, firewalls, and video conferencing

  • Together with corporate Help Desk Drive resolution of end user issues and provide the appropriate level of escalation as needed.Follow incident / problem / change management processes

  • Take ownership of shared PC’s in manufacturing area’s and training rooms

  • Support any local IT solutions outside the corporate standard service delivery scope.Provide application installation, updating, patching and performance monitoring such as OS/application updates and coordinating maintenance windows with end-users

  • Manage backup schedules and ensure best practices applied for data protection

  • Ensure IT standards are followed in the implementation of new IT solutions and drive compliance with information security policies, to maintain IT service continuity

  • Follow up administration for new hardware (ordering, receiving, maintain inventory), you are responsible for site related IT procurement and asset delivery

  • Provide a sounding board and advice and counsel on IT matters for the site population

  • Stakeholder management: Align on, communicate and implement IT policies, plans and priorities to the businesses and functions on site. Seeking innovative solutions as appropriate

  • Work with IT Teams, Cluster IT Leader and other functional staff to resolve areas of concern. Provide feedback to ensure services are optimized

  • Ensures site expectations are aligned with contracted services and that services are delivered.Escalate service level agreement issues and provide feedback of resolutions

  • Meet regularly with teams to set goals and expectations, assessing and monitoring work progress and removing obstacles

  • Local Vendor Management: Understands current technical capabilities of suppliers. Anticipates future capabilities needed. Effectively communicates to suppliers, business and IT direction. Focal point between the company and telecommunication provider(s)


  • A Bachelor degree in an IT or computer science discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role .The candidate should be a skilled IT generalist who can understand a wide array of IT infrastructure, spanning major competencies and technologies such as LAN, WAN, Firewall, Telephony, Video Conferencing, Compute (servers), End user Computing

  • Must have the ability to understand IT general concepts whilst engaging with subject matter experts and support professionals to implement solutions and support existing environment

  • Strong project management skills, experience with Project Management methodologies (ITIL, PMP, Six Sigma) preferred; You can build strong interdependent relationship with businesses and can work to overcome issues to meet business needs

  • Previous experience in an automation, R&D or manufacturing environment is desired

  • Preferred working knowledge / experience: active directory, management of individual accounts, shared accounts, and service accounts / SQL management / ITIL support models

  • Sound working knowledge of English and Dutch required, French is a plus

  • You can define and execute IT objectives , consistent with corporate strategies. Provides leadership upon IT matters to site

  • You take ownership of potential issues

  • Recognises opportunities and initiates action to improve existing IT operation or reduce costs within business or IT capability

  • Is action oriented and ensures the right priorities are set on a daily basis
