The DuPont Yerkes site located in Buffalo, New York employs approximately 540 DuPont employees and another 40-60 contractors. Comprised of two business units, Yerkes includes Corian® (Sheetlines 1 & 2 plus Shape), Tedlar® (Polymer, Mix/Casting, SP, Treating/Finishing), and Power Generation (water/steam/compressed air). The units work independently to produce materials that are used in a variety of products including: countertops, building panels, wall covering, solar cells, and surface finishes for airplanes, cars, buses, and trains – to name a few.

The primary role of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is to improve the work force productivity and work quality through the coordination of labor, parts, material, tools and equipment with permissions, specialized documentation and equipment access as well as anticipation and elimination of potential delays through planning and troubleshooting.

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for ensuring safety needs are given a top priority in work planning and scheduling. The work of this position consists of maintenance planning which will drive the work management process. The planner will need to take the lead to facilitate cross-functional teams to create detailed job plans in order to repair short-term and long-term equipment issues. It will be necessary to interface with vendors to obtain parts and improve planning processes.

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler must analyze maintenance and construction jobs and determine the best methods, tools, and materials needed to perform the jobs safely and efficiently. They must be able to create detailed job plans. They must be able to use the plant maintenance management system to develop the job plan and use it to order parts. The planner must be familiar with the status of jobs, and ordered materials.

Typical responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:

  • Planning of daily routine,periodic and annual shutdown work orders for millwright maintenanceemployees in all departments as required

  • Conduct field walk downs toscope out all components necessary for planning maintenance work

  • Write applicable maintenanceprocedures that promote defect-free maintenance work quality.

  • Order all parts and materialfor jobs when needed

  • Keep equipment files up to date

  • Verify that parts are correctwhen delivered

  • Accept and utilize constructivefeedback to improve job plans

  • Communications withcraftspeople, contractor representatives and materials suppliers.

  • Maintenance plans will bedeveloped including safe work execution

  • Oversee repairable equipmentfor refurbishment

  • Interface closely withmaintenance supervision, production supervision, engineers and vendors.

Qualifications

The following arerequired:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • A minimum of 2-year MechanicalTechnology certificate OR at least two years of experience in anindustrial, maintenance, electrical, or construction environment.

  • Working knowledge of computers,including Microsoft Office

  • Ability to read and understandplans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine workrequirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations

  • Demonstrated ability to provideassistance in training, updating engineering drawings and establishment ofrecords

  • Previous experience in computerbased Maintenance Support systems

  • Demonstrated ability to usegood communication skills and ability to interact effectively with othersto troubleshoot and resolve problems.

The following arepreferred:

  • SAP

  • Previous experience in anengineering/maintenance support role with both long term and short-term processreliability improvement
