ROLE DEFINITION

As a Plant Process Control Technician (PPCT) You will support the Automation and Process Control systems and provide first contact support to operations, maintenance, and automation engineers. You will participate in regular and scheduled maintenance activities with vendor/contractor support and other maintenance functions. Additionally you will participate on improvement teams and implements projects under the direction of the Process Automation Engineer or other engineers in Operations. You will implement and support control system best practices under the direction of the Process Automation Engineer and/or other A&PC guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION  ​

Some of your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:

  • Provide first-line troubleshooting on process control systems, applications, and infrastructure. (Off-hours support may be required)

  • Participate in regular and scheduled maintenance activities on Process Automation (PA) systems and infrastructure with vendor/contractor support and other internal and external maintenance functions.

  • Evaluate risks to ensure safe and reliable plant operations during troubleshooting and maintenance activities on control systems and applications.

  • Ensure all changes follow a Management of Change (MOC) process and are properly tested prior to loading into a production system per plant procedures.

  • Participate on project/improvement teams and implements small projects under the direction of the Process Automation Engineer or other engineers in Operations.

  • Execute physical and cyber security maintenance of control systems, including backups, patches and updates.

  • Implement and support control system best practices under the direction of the Process Automation Engineer and/or other A&PC guidance (i.e., book of conventions).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is required; 2-year technical/trade school degree is preferred

  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or related experience is required

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical installations (Motor Control Centers, etc.).

  • Corian Line of business experience preferred

  • Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operation) experience preferred

  • Experienced in process control systems

  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent in hardware and software development skills.

  • Effective in understanding automation networks.

  • This role is located in Yerkes-Buffalo, NY and may require less than 5% of travel.

  • Willing and able to use both hands for repetitive wrist, hand, and fingers motions.

  • Willing and able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required

  • Willing and able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs on an occasional basis

The Pay range for this role is $28.59 - $44.92 Hourly
