Corcoran Senior Research Associate, Station Manager (Job Number: 201606W-01)
The position will be in charge of coordinating daily activities from all R&D projects at the Corcoran Station. There are three different projects at the station, Seed Increase of R&D lines, Trait Introgression and Pima Breeding. Each project has a research leader and the overall operation is led by the Operations Lead.
Corcoran is a centralized station for producing all the cotton seed, breeding crosses and traited lines for all US cotton breeding programs. The whole operation is done with high quality standards of processes and products in order to be successful. The idea of centralization is about specification being able to reach that high quality standards, but also process efficiency being able to allocate resources all in one place to decrease the cost per unit of product.
The Station Manager plays a key role, operating the station following the quality and safety standards of each process, assigning the right resources in terms of personnel and assets. Following the demands from the research leaders prioritized by the Operations Lead through staff meetings, he/she will have to execute weekly plans.
All main activities will be done at the station with low travel requirements outside.
Minimum of master’s degree in plant sciences, agronomy or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years industry related experience required. Familiarity with quality management systems and being able to communicate in Spanish, are desired. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
