Job Description: The Global Proposal Engineer is responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy and on-time delivery of licensed technology proposals to prospective customers. At times, this role must be able to effectively prioritize numerous customer requests to optimize business results. The person in this role is expected to work with minimal supervision. Excellent commercial and technical understanding of MECS processes and products is needed to succeed longer term in the role.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of complete, accurate and on-time customer proposals and price estimates.

  • Provide strategic and commercial support to world regions for various MECS technologies as defined by Licensing Managers.

  • Serve as point of communication between regional sales managers (BDMs) and the home office.

  • Support sales effort with timely response to technical and commercial questions from clients on multiple product lines.

  • Work collaboratively with regional BDMs and Licensing Managers to set strategy for each technology licensing opportunity.

  • Provide support both remotely and face to face to regional BDMs and Licensing Managers for commercial decision making during contract negotiations.

  • Able to work with a variable time schedule to accommodate communication with a global team across multiple international time zones

  • Interface directly with customers to support sales effort.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Requires a four-year engineering degree (Mechanical/Chemical). An MBA is preferred. 5 years related experience in process design, proposal or project management, or technology licensing is preferred.

  2. General management experience in a business or manufacturing environment is preferred.

  3. Knowledge of market/customer is required to better define customer needs.

  4. Must deal with various chemical and mechanical fabrication processes and have enough education/background to recommend the correct product for a given application.

  5. Personality, tact, and persuasiveness are required for dealing with customers as well as in-house engineering and process disciplines.

  6. Position handles numerous jobs at a time at various stages of proposal and order activity.

  7. Expected to have product, technical, commercial and group operations knowledge to be a resource for other group members.

  8. Excited to travel internationally for up to 30% of the time
