The DuPont Transportation and Advanced Polymers (T&AP) platform is seeking a First Line Supervisor to support Vespel® operations at the Circleville, Ohio site.
As the pioneer of polymer science with a legacy of innovation, the T&AP team uses its world-class expertise across multiple polymer platforms to integrate cutting-edge science, design, manufacturing excellence, and processing technology to give shape to smarter ideas for today and tomorrow. The Vespel® business is a profitable, growing business servicing challenging applications in aerospace, chemicals, and a variety of industries. The Circleville site also manufactures Kapton®, Tedlar®, and Teflon® film.
The site is located approximately 30 miles south of Columbus, OH. This proximity to Columbus allows either urban or rural living; great for families and single living. The area offers many museums and arts-scene experiences, professional and collegiate sports, and has several highly ranked golf courses and state parks for the outdoor enthusiast.
The position (N-shift) works a 12-hour rotating 12/7 day schedule and supervises a staff of production employees in Vespel® manufacturing on a 12-hour rotating 24/7 schedule. The supervisor is responsible for the following: adherence to safety policies and procedures; maintaining standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance; communicating expectations with operational accountability; responding to personnel, operational, safety and environmental incidents; and ensuring work is completed in accordance with production schedules.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop and coordinate daily work schedules, assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads in order to meet production goals.
Facilitate and/or coordinate activities with team members including Visual Performance Management, Problem Solving, and 5S.
Recommend and/or drive improvements in quality processes, production procedures and equipment upgrades.
Coordinate operational activities across shifts and with other area/site resources
Communicate up and down the line and ensure communications from team members are accurate and complete.
Monitor production lines to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Set expectations and maintain individual accountability for compliance to Core Values (EH&S/PSM, Ethics & Respect for People) and model the appropriate behavior.
Ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Conditions including production related components of a quality system, such as ISO.
Build and strengthen work team capabilities to include both technical and soft skills.
Provide proper training for operator job duties
Foster a culture of employee engagement, empowerment and ownership through leader standard work practices including participation in the area improvement activities.
High School Diploma or GED
Three years’ experience in manufacturing environment
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks
Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
Exhibit a “can do” attitude.
Ability to interact and provide guidance to colleagues at all levels
Self-managed/self-motivated and able to work without close supervision
Have a “lead by example” mentality.
Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
Preferred Skills and Experience :
FLS detail experience, or FLS experience in High Hazardous Process environment.
Six Sigma Green Belt/DPS Expert certification/Lean Manufacturing certification or training.
Experience with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and Why Tree methodology.
Proficiency with HR Workday and ADP eTime timecard system.
