Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical & Instrument Mechanic to join our herbicide production facility in El Paso, IL. The El Paso, Illinois site manufactures herbicide products for the Crop Protection platform of the Ag Division within DowDupont. The site manufacturers many diverse products and has 120 employees and is a key formulation and packaging facility within the new Ag Division. The site is located within 20 miles of Bloomington and Normal, Illinois. This is the location of several colleges and provides a thriving hub of activity. It is also within 2 hour drive of Chicago. The Electrical & Instrument Mechanic will repair and maintain electrical, instrument, and mechanical equipment. They will maintain, install, repair and troubleshoot power distribution equipment such as 4,160 volt 3 phase electrical distribution systems. Other systems include substations, motor control centers, circuit breakers, lighting, instrument, heat trace panels and related equipment. The use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments is required.

Typical duties of an E&I Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • Calibrate,repair, rebuild, and replace process instruments of all types.

  • Maintaincalibration and maintenance records.

  • Calibrate,install, maintain and repair process analyzers.

  • Inspectand replace power cords of all types for various plant equipment pieces.

  • Connectwiring of all kinds (i.e. - 480 power systems,120 volt controls,)

  • Troubleshootdistributed control systems and Programmable Logic Control Systems.

  • Read,interpret and correct typical drawings such as P&I, Logic, Schematic, andloop sheets.

  • Conductloop checks and alarm and interlock checks on new and existing installations.

  • Conductcombustion safety interlocking checks on Burner Systems.

  • Performother duties as assigned by supervision.


The following are required:

  • Minimum High School Diploma orequivalency required

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial plant maintenanceexperience or relevant journeyman experience

  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to safely usemaintenance tools and equipment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics

  • Good desktop computer (Microsoft office) skills

  • Pass pre-employment medical andbackground screenings

  • Pass pre-employment job testing

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Willing and able to work a shift that is primarily during the day,but may include overtime, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Knowledge of IP21 and/or PLCs preferred
