DuPont’s DTF is currently seeking qualified Maintenance Mechanic Technicians to join our team in Hopewell, Virginia!

The Hopewell DTF facility is a multiline polymer and film making operation producing about 90MM pounds of Mylar® and Melinex® products used in multiple packaging, industrial and specialty applications. The site is located about 30 miles southeast of Richmond, Virginia, employing about 500 employees and contractors.

The Maintenance Mechanic Technician will maintain and repair all types of industrial equipment efficiently, professionally and in the safest means possible. The successful candidate will have experience in trades such as rigging, welding, milling machine, lathe, pipe fitting, and maintenance shop equipment operation to successfully complete assigned tasks and troubleshoot equipment issues. The Maintenance Mechanic will perform inspections and overhauls on production and process equipment. This includes gearboxes, pumps, air / hydraulic cylinders, heated / cooled process rolls, steam ovens, steam systems, film converting equipment, utilities equipment such as air compressors, steam boilers, water chillers, HVAC, convey systems, and packing equipment.

This position will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Operatingshop equipment including a lathe, milling machine, drill press, pipethreader, band saw, sheet metal shear, handbrake and rollers.

  • Performingbasic welding repairs using Tig, stick, Mig (not code).

  • Operatingpowered industrial vehicles, i.e. fork trucks, man lifts, scissor lifts,etc.

  • Installing,replacing and repairing pipe using screw and weld fittings.

  • Performingcoupling, process roll and machine alignment using dial indicators andlaser alignment technology.

  • Assistwith planning and scheduling of work during plant shutdowns to includecollaborating with planners and vendors when necessary.

  • Repairand polish Chrome process roll surfaces using hand tools and dalic(electric plating) equipment as needed.

  • Performpreventive maintenance inspections and overhauls on production and processequipment.

Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this role, the following are required:

  • HighSchool diploma or GED equivalent

  • Completionof a 4 year Apprenticeship program or similar training program inIndustrial Mechanic trades, i.e. millwright, pipefitter, welder,boilermaker, machinist

  • Experiencemaintaining and repairing industrial machinery using various hand tools,power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments

  • Abilityto operate computers daily and learn new computer software systems toinput data into the Maintenance Management System

  • Willingand able to work a rotating shift schedule including overtime, holidays,and weekends

  • Willingand able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such assteel toes, hardhat, Nomex flame/arc protective clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, arcprotective clothing, and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)

  • Willingand able to obtain a powered industrial truck certification, i.e. forktruck and possess a valid and current driver’s license

  • Willingand able to do the following: lift 10 lbs. frequently, 25 lbs regularlyand 55 lbs occasionally; work outdoors at varying heights, in tight andconfining spaces; climb stairs, ladders, stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel,crawl, reach overhead, and hear and respond to alarms

The following skill sets are preferred by the site:

  • 5 or more years of industrial maintenancerepair experience

  • Experience performing a job safetyanalysis and equipment lockout safety procedures

  • Journeyman Pipefitter Certification and ora Millwright Certification

  • Experience with SAP or equivalentManufacturing Operations software

  • Experience operating a fork truck

  • Welding Experience
