Position summary

The Product Specialist is responsible for managing the creation of new probiotics products, managing changes to existing products, leading continuous improvement projects for the business, and coordinating customer visits to the Madison site.

Responsibilities willinclude but are not limited to:

  • Initiates and managesprogress of all product workflows related to creation and modification ofSKUs for the NAFTA region

  • Acts as steward for assignedcustomers/SKUs to ensure products are profitable and sustainable

  • Helps drive customeropportunities to a successful conclusion

  • Manages customer special(non-standard) requests for product information and samples

  • Serves as the commerciallead for continuous improvement projects, new product launches and/ormiscellaneous special projects

  • Communicates status ofprojects and performance metrics to stakeholders

  • Represents the business indecision-making for non-productive inventory

  • Represents the business in supplyplanning meetings

  • Represents the business in dispositionand investigation of out-of-spec materials

  • Manages customer acceptanceprojects for out-of-spec materials

  • Coordinates and providesadministrative support for Madison site visits for probiotic customersfrom all regions

  • Occasional travel toindustry trade shows, customer locations and 3 rd party tollers

  • Backup for other productspecialists

  • Other support duties asassigned

Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a relatedfield (technology, project management, marketing, etc.)

  • A proven track record of strongproject management skills for both short and long-term projects

  • Ability to manage and prioritizemultiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency in SAP (or similar ERP)and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to influence others andaccomplish goals as a strong cross-functional partner

  • Excellent customer interaction andcommunication skills

  • Ability to focus and adapt inunpredictable and fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to identify and manage risks

  • Natural bias towards paying attentionto details

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical ormarketing field

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Prior experience with probioticsmanufacturing operations and/or quality management systems

  • Prior experience in probiotics, pharma,dietary supplements, or food ingredients industries

  • Prior Six Sigma or Lean experienceand certifications
