Manufacturing Technology Clean Label Process Development Engineer (Job Number: 199772W-03)
The DuPont Nutrition and Health Manufacturing Technology organization supports the business by working with integrated operations to deliver continuous improvement in process safety, process technology, and productivity; and by working with R&D to commercialize new products and technologies. The team drives process technology excellence and ensures a strong technical foundation to enable:

As a Clean Label Process Development Engineer, you will report to a Manufacturing Technology Process Development Leader who supports multiple technologies and processes within the Nutrition and Health business. You will be directly responsible for development of new systems and texturants processes that involve minimal processing of natural raw material. You will drive scale-up activities and help transfer product from R&D to full scale manufacturing. Key responsibilities are to:
Own and support process safetyinitiatives within your pilot plants and labs
Own process development for anew line of clean label systems and texturants products and support thetransition from lab scale to pilot scale, to production scale
Identify, evaluate, and selectunit operations to maximize product performance and production efficiency
Coordinate and execute lab andpilot scale work associated with clean label process development
Develop and document processtechnology information – establish critical operating limits; establishproduct and raw material specification ranges; and develop/understandconnections between operational parameters, physical properties, andapplications performance
Ensure processes are developedto deliver maximum business and customer value
Thisposition requires significant international travel (25%) or temporary livingarrangements. DuPont can be flexibleabout travel and relocation arrangements for the ideal candidate.

- Owncritical safety initiatives
Implementation DuPont process safety standards inpilot plants and labs and ensure continued compliance.

Support the Responsible Care andsustainability initiatives.
- Ownprocess development for a new line of clean label systems and texturantsproducts
Workcross functionally with Commercial, R&D, Manufacturing, Applications,Regulatory, and Analytical Leads to develop new, minimallyprocessed texturants from natural raw materials
Define newprocesses. Identify, evaluate, andselect unit operations that meet process and clean label requirements.
Operate ordirection operation of lab and pilot plant equipment. Design and execute pilot trials toselect processes that maximize product performance and operationalefficiency. Work with consultantsand vendors as needed.
Developoperating cost estimates and CapEx cost estimates to support businesscase development
Develop and document process technology information. Establish critical operating limits; establish product and raw material specification ranges; and develop/understand connections between operational parameters, physical properties, and applications performance
Transfer new processes from R&D into manufacturing
Ensure new processes are safe, reliable, efficient,and meet both customer and business needs
- Provide overall projectmanagement, tracking, & reporting for process development.
Create detailed projecttimelines. Identify milestones andinter-dependencies.
Manage projects to successfulresolution.
Deliver results and bringprojects in safely, on-time, and on-budget.
Communicate clearly and inform stakeholders of delaysand barriers in a timely manner to allow for appropriate action.
- Work across the organization todeliver results and business value
Stay informed of big picture initiatives and provideinput and implementation support for defined area.
Develop and maintain strong relationshipswith all internal and external stakeholders (e.g. R&D, corporateengineering and technology, manufacturing sites, MT Organization, SHE, consultants,and vendors).
Remain current on industrybest practices, technology improvements, and available resources to ensurefully leveraging knowledge that exists outside of DuPont.
- BS in Chemical Engineering;Master level qualification a plus
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Strong safety leadership andexperience with process safety management.
Significant experience withprocess R&D / process development and finding creative solutions tointroduce new processes.
Technology knowledge of MCC, Carrageenan,Alginates, and other hydrocolloids
Competence in engineeringfundamentals. Ability to interpret andapply broad basis principles, theories and concepts.
Ability to work crossfunctionally with R&D, Applications, Regulatory, Manufacturing,Analytical, and Commercial teams
Strong problem solving,prioritization, and risk based management skills.
Data based decision making andstrong results driven/action orientated approach to projects.
A demonstrated history of deliveringresults bringing projects in safely, on time and on budget.
The ability to effectivelypresent at both informal and formal training settings.
International experience andbi-lingual capabilities a plus.
