The DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers business at the Sabine River Works plant in Orange, TX site is seeking a Site Reliability Strategy Leader:

The Central Reliability Group at Sabine River Operations (SRO) has been on a path to achieving world class capability in a wide range of reliability technologies for several years. The Reliability Engineering function under the DuPont model has involved three key focus areas: (1) the elimination of defects that lead to poor operating unit and equipment performance, and (2) the development of maintenance strategies to improve equipment performance through Reliability Centered Maintenance analysis. (3) Additionally, there has long been a strong association between the Reliability function and Mechanical Integrity programs in DuPont. As the site transitions to the DOW Operational Model from DuPont’s model the importance of reliability engineering will only intensify. The Site Reliability Strategy Leader will be the primary influential leader and senior professional assisting the Site’s Reliability Leader to lead and implement the Site Reliability Plan under the DOW Operational Model.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • This role willprovide complex maintenance and reliability systems and equipmentconsulting across the company.

  • Provide functionalguidance for SRO reliability personnel including Reliability Engineers fordevelopment of Equipment Reliability Strategies (ERS).

  • Ensure theindividuals in these roles are developed, mentored, capable and ready toexecute the plan.

  • Support creationand lead implementation of the SRO Site Reliability Plan.

Help establish and maintain relevant tracking metrics and dashboards to support that Plan including:

  • PSR by site andfacility.

  • Losses by category.

  • ERS implementation.

  • PPM optimization.

  • Reliability ValueImprovement.

  • Reliability UPEs.

  • Facilitateidentification of the sitewide reliability opportunities. Work with SiteReliability Leader to resource and projects and get the results.

  • Champion HighlyReliable Operations (HRO) best practices and support Reliability Engineersand Operations personnel in implementation of those practices in eachfacility to deliver a #ONETEAM approach to Reliability.

  • Establish and growa partnership with Production, Logistics and other TES Leaders.

  • In concert withthe Site Reliability Leader, coach, develop and mentor plant ReliabilityEngineers in the delivery of high quality deliverables including ERSs,FMEAs, RCIs, Reliability Principles, etc.

  • Together with theSite Reliability Leader, ensure Front End Loading for Turnarounds containsthe necessary reliability jobs and tool usage to deliver the intendedvalue (eg. TA Tracks 3&4).

  • Establish anddrive data quality objectives across SRO Maintenance (e.g. EquipmentCriticality rankings, equipment history, etc).

  • Primary programlead for transition of DuPont Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assuranceprograms to DOW Global Mechanical Integrity Safety System (GMISS).This is a multi-year journey beginningwith gap assessment, development of detailed compliance plan, andexecution of the plan.


Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering degree.

  • 10 years of experience as a Fixed Equipment/Reliability Engineer.

Functional experience with hands on expertise with the following:

  • Capable of writing mechanical design packages for highly hazardous chemical processes.

Basic understanding or willingness to learn principles and techniques including:

  • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).

  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).

Deep Knowledge and Experience of:

  • Fixed equipment diagnostic (NDE) technologies.

  • Industry RAGAGEP's regarding piping, pressure vessel, and tank design, repair, and inspection to included: B31.3, B31.4, Sections V, VIII, and IX of the ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code, API Standards 570, 571, 579, 653, 650, 580, 581, 510, ANSI/NB23 Parts 1,2, and 3.

  • Principles of rotating machinery and understanding of key design/maintenance considerations.

  • Willingness to quickly learn DOW’s key management systems such as:

  • Loss Prevention Principles.

  • Global Mechanical Integrity Safety System.

  • Electronic Most Effective Technology Library.

  • Equipment Reliability Strategy Playbook.

  • Turnaround Playbook (3 &4).

General Skills:

  • Must have very good oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have a demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and all basic software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Must have demonstrated team building and influence/negotiation skills (This is a senior professional role and successful candidates must be proven project/team leaders).
