We're currently hiring Maintenance Mechanics for our Pryor Oklahoma location.

The regular work schedule will be 4 – 10hr weekly schedule, with periodic overtime, in addition to being on an on-call schedule. This position may also be required to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. There is no relocation with this position.

Position Summary:

  • Provide support to the achievement of plant manufacturing objectives through the planning and execution of maintenance programs and projects assigned to the maintenance team.

  • Installs, maintains and troubleshoots in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, machinery, mechanical equipment and control systems, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices and testing instruments.

  • Performs all work for which they are trained or have the ability to accomplish in a safe manner.


  • Following is a listing of some of the types of tasks a Maintenance Mechanic 1 would perform (including but not limited to)

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment such as pumps, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and steam turbines, using hand tools, solvents, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and/or laser aligning equipment in order to restore it to safe and efficient operation.

  • Find and correct problems (troubleshoots) with equipment using mechanical knowledge, equipment specification sheets, and manufacturer literature in order to restore to operation.

  • Removes or installs valves, pumps, motors, piping and other equipment in order to facilitate maintenance activities or install new equipment.

  • Actively participate in and accept all Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities.

  • Lubricates gearboxes, pumps, bearings and other equipment in order to prolong life and keep them operating safely and efficiently.

  • Inspects, removes and replaces bearings on equipment in order to restore to operation.

  • Adjust tension or changes belts on equipment so that equipment works at maximum efficiency.

  • Work with peers in a team oriented environment

  • Actively participate in a safe and respectful work environment

  • Continuously learn and enhance job skills as well as teaching others to enhance their skills

About the Testing to be done at WorkForce Oklahoma

  • There is a new, comparable Evaluation Process called Tapdance Apptitude Testing, that WorkForce now gives instead of WorkKeys. (WorkKeys is no longer given).

  • IF you completed WorkKeys Testing previously, you may choose to use it OR you can take the new testing.

  • If you do choose to use your WorkKeys score/status you must do both of the following action items:

  • Take 2 Tapdance tests (Basic Word & Basic Excel) at WorkForce

  • You need to sign a release for WorkForce to share your WorkKeys results with DuPont

  • Tapdance test scores must be Current (taken within the past 12 months)

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalency

  • Able and willing to work the Pryor Maintenance schedule including overtime as needed.

  • Able and willing to work in industrial type conditions

  • Able to lift 55 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, etc.

One or more of the following:

  • Completion of Apprenticeship Program in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Millwright OR

  • Associates of Applied Science Technology degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Millwright OR

  • A minimum three years’ experience as a Journeyman Level Mechanic in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Millwright at a chemical/manufacturing plant.

*Candidates will be required to successfully complete pre-employment testing, interviews, a physical evaluation, a drug/alcohol screen, and training.

Desired Competencies In:

  • Safe Work practices, Pipe fitting and / or welding, especially stainless steel.

  • Reading and understanding loop drawings and P&ID drawings, documenting technical work that is performed and performing PM’s and calibrations.

  • Reading and understanding equipment manuals and mechanical drawings.

  • Troubleshooting techniques from simple to complex problems in the manufacturing environment.
