Associate Investigator (Job Number: 199279W-10)
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting research scientists in and independently contributing to various aspects of research and development.

With minimal guidance from supervision and within established procedures, conducts end-use performance evaluations, and information/data management activities in support of new material, process or application development. Is expected to conduct experiments independently and collect, summarize and present experimental results as well as recognize and troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory. Provides safety audit functions within the laboratory in order to maintain a safe working environment.
The responsibilities of this position include:
Assistand participate in the inventive process with other professionals.
Conductexperiments, to completion, according to specific procedures, exercisingindependent judgment and discretion as appropriate.
Maintain,organizes and summarizes results of experiments including notebookentries, regulatory documentation, data analysis, technical reports, etc.
Maintainingchemical and sample inventory, coordinating outside laboratory testingincluding shipping samples following DOT requirements, and guidelines forimport/ export.
Inspects,uses, and maintains research equipment including performing routinemaintenance and troubleshooting.Implement refinements in evolving technologies, equipment, andmethodologies.
Writesand maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and safetydocumentation.
Mustbe capable to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomicenvironments.
Worksafely with hazardous chemicals and solvents.
Excellentverbal and written communication skills as well as math and computerskills.
Demonstratedcomputer skills using PC-based applications such as Excel, Word,PowerPoint and Outlook.
Excellentpersonal interaction skills and ability to work as a team member with adiverse group of people.
The following are required:
Knowledge and skills to conduct hands-on experimental work in laboratory, analyze, interpret the data, and suggest modifications.
Broad theoretical grounding and understanding in specialized or technical areas (mechanical, electrical or materials engineering).
Demonstrated competency in planning projects and multitasking.
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines.
B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Materials engineering or in physical science (chemistry, organic chemistry, physics) or related field is required.
Some travel likely required to support varying internal and external (customer) interactions.
