SHE Consultant (Occupational Health)

The Spruance OH Competency Consultant provides leadership, technical support, policy, program auditing and oversight, and strategy development for site OH programs and initiatives at the DuPont Safety & Construction site in Richmond Virginia. The OH Consultant provides functional guidance and leadership to area SHE resources in support of OH goals and objectives, is a key member of the Site Responsible Care Core Team, and is responsible to support the line organization in maintaining compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal OH related regulations and requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

This position has responsibility for leading and coordinating occupational health (OH) programs at a site of 2500 employees and contract personnel.

Job-specific tasks and expectations include:

  • Updatingimplementing and maintaining site OH managing processes and procedures.

  • Workingwith production unit SHE resources, site Safety and Integrated Health Servicesgroups, and area personnel to accomplish OH goals and objectives.

  • Supportingand providing subject matter expertise to incident investigations ofoccupational illnesses or OH incidents to determine key factors and learningsand recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.

  • Keepingthe line organization apprised in making timely adjustments and continuouslyimproving performance indicators through statistical analysis, performancemetrics, monitoring results, etc.

  • Networkingwith OH professionals across the company, business and region, and participatingon improvement projects, competency related calls, etc. as appropriate

  • Supportingthe collection, management, statistical analysis, interpretation and reportingof personal exposure data through interfacing with the Industrial HygieneTechnical Assistant

  • Leading,participating on, and helping driving preparation for any first and secondparty OH audits to insure compliance with corporate standards and governmentalregulations.

  • Interfacingroutinely with other site, regional, business, and corporate Safety, Health andEnvironmental resources to share and leverage information as appropriate.

  • Servingas the site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), Ergonomic Facilitator, andRespirator Program Administrator

  • Continuingthe integration of Cority® into the OH exposure assessment and managementprogram.

Demonstrated Capabilities Required:

  • Knowledgeof governmental Safety & Occupational Health regulations.

  • Planningand organization skills to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projectssimultaneously and with varying degrees of complexity.

  • Abilityto lead and/or resource diverse teams to accomplish results without directauthority.

  • Abilityto identify deficiencies in program functionality and drive improvement.

  • Abilityto interact and communicate effectively with individuals and teams havingdiverse viewpoints, cultures, and backgrounds and at various levels of theorganization from shop floor to Site and Business leadership.

  • Proficiencywith the Office 365 suite of product, including SharePoint, Microsoft Word,PowerPoint, Access and Excel.

  • Abilityto continuously improve personal functional capability and ensure maintenanceof technical and regulatory expertise

  • Abilityto network effectively.

  • Effectiveoral presentation, report writing, and other written communication skills


Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in Industrial Hygiene, or another applicable technical field (chemistry, biology, toxicology, engineering)

  • 5 to 10 years of directly related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills needed to participate on or lead a team.

  • Must be capable of creating and communicating safety information to diverse audiences.

  • CIH Required and must be maintained.
