DuPont is seeking Process Engineers for our Washington Works Plant in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

The Manufacturing Technology Process Engineer will provide day-to-day technical expertise and technical support for the processes at the site. The successful candidate will join an integrated team including process-chemical, reliability-mechanical, and control system-electrical engineers. The responsibilities of the position include solution of process problems, identifying and implementing process improvements, and leading teams and/or projects for longer-term improvements.
The Manufacturing Technology Process Engineer will be responsible for:
Providing technical expertise for the polymer processes at the site.
Providing technical support to the operations team as required.
Leading or participating on teams to upgrade processes and products ranging from incremental improvements to major technology changes.
Mentoring and assisting in operations training.
Leading/participating in PSM Technology element teams and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) teams.
Executing the change management processes to execute both Equipment and Process improvements. (Process change requests, Change of design, Raw material qualifications).
Leading or serving on project teams to drive continuous improvement working on areas such as yield, uptime, fixed and variable cost reductions, and working capital reductions.
B.S. or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university. Advanced degree holders encouraged to apply.
3.0 minimum overall GPA or higher
Demonstrated ability to work safety and effectively as a process engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Higher experience levels encouraged to apply; job level and compensation offered to be commensurate upon experience.
Broad-based knowledge of polymer process engineering. This can include: chemical reactors, distillation, heat transfer, mass transfer, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, filtration, casting, extrusion, cutting, drying and bulk solids handling, mixing and packaging
Experience with Process Safety Management system requirements, pressure relief design, root cause failure analysis.
Capability in batch and continuous processes, and can include recycle loops
Ability to assimilate the unit operation information into actions that impact important criteria including process safety, ingredient yield, cycle time, product quality, and capacity.
Knowledge of process modeling software (Aspen)
Familiarity with PHA (Process Hazards Analysis), especially as a team member or leader
Good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be self-motivated and have great attention to detail.
Strong trouble shooting skills.
Ability to learn and work independently.
Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions including operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders.
