Global R&D IT Leader (Job Number: 198990W-01)


As a member of the Global Transportation and Advanced Polymers, Information Technology & Process Business (IT&P) Team, the candidate is responsible for creating, managing and executing the R&D IT strategy, including architecture for scientific computing, intellectual property, trade secret protection, lab automation systems, and protection and retention of R&D and key process information. The candidate translates R&D and business requirements into technical IT solutions and executes the plan to deliver the information and tools required to support the R&D strategies.

Main Responsibilities:

You will be driving and managing the portfolio of R&D IT projects, along with run and maintain activities for the R&D process areas. Work with the R&D organization and manage the relevant stakeholders to create and maintain effective processes to: prioritize and track applications, create new initiatives and maintain existing, ensure appropriate staffing levels, ensure accuracy of receipt of services, and ensure global alignment. Current initiatives include:

  • Big data and machine learning programs

  • Global Scientific Data Management initiative

  • Project and Portfolio Management system implementation

  • Tools deployment and training

  • Lab automation systems

  • IP protection initiatives

The role includes

  • Active participation and engagement with leadership and teams from Research & Development, Product Stewardship & Regulatory, Legal/IP, Sales and Marketing, and Operations.

  • Network with other DuPont research organizations, especially Science and Technology, to identify and/or leverage current and future innovative solutions.

  • Engage the DuPont IT&P organization to develop and leverage solutions and resources in support of the business:

  • Network with other Global IT Leaders to identify common needs/goals and synergy opportunities

  • Provide IT linkage between R&D, Science and Technology, and Site Manufacturing

  • Provide IT guidance to R&D regional centers to ensure applications and infrastructure needs and plans are aligned

  • Lead the IT efforts around incorporating the Product Stewardship and Regulatory requirements into the Product Development Stage Gate process

  • Ensure solutions are consistent with IT architecture standards and guidance

Additionally, we are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience with computing solutions in a R&D, Engineering, or similar technical field

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects with discipline and active stakeholder engagement

  • Flexibility to travel - no more than 25%

  • 5-8 years of experience in R&D environment with a strong IT background.

  • Advanced degree in physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics is a plus

  • Security experience and certification as well as project management certification or equivalent experience are also pluses
