The Global Reliability & Maintenance Business Leader (RMBL) provides leadership and direction to the processes that help the business make good investment and resourcing decisions related to asset reliability and ensure that R&M activities are executed in a sustainable, effective way that drives productivity, reduces cost and assesses risks. Implement and sustain R&M best practices across the global network. Serves as the R&M lead to provide operational guidance and oversight to reliability and maintenance professionals. Collaborates with stakeholders including other functional leads, site and business leadership, COE and Reliability Council, Engineering and third party vendors to ensure R&M enhancements align with overall strategy. This role will lead the business multigenerational plan for the harmonization of the Maintenance and Reliability efforts across E&I.

Global Reliability & Maintenance Strategy Development

  • Develop the short and long term global R&M implementation strategy through ongoing collaboration with appropriate stakeholders. Develop, implement and continuously improve maintenance and reliability solutions to meet business needs.

  • Influence Business and Site Management teams to create a reliability culture by adopting Corporate R&M Best Practices and driving continuous improvement using Six Sigma, Lean and the DuPont Production Systems (DPS) methodology.

  • Represent the Business on the Corporate R&M Leader’s Council to help define Corporate M&R Best Practices, M&R strategies and new M&R initiatives.

Global Reliability & Maintenance Leadership and Coaching

  • Standardize and drive R&M best practices as appropriate across the global network including the use of metrics and Leader Standard Work.

  • Champion advancing safety and Process Safety Management (PSM) performance through the improvement of maintenance work management processes and reliability.

  • Lead network of R&M professionals to build overall functional competence and ensure that critical maintenance and reliability positions are staffed properly at each site. Identify and develop qualified resources for site reliability and maintenance leaders & reliability engineers. Work with appropriate leaders to ensure quality COTs for individuals in critical maintenance roles and quality targeted development plans for individuals.

  • Lead network of site Reliability and Maintenance Leaders to ensure that processes and procedures are implemented consistently across sites and businesses to increase rate and quality of Maintenance and Reliability improvement via leveraging learnings and communicating expectations that lead to improvement of asset productivity while optimizing maintenance costs globally.

  • Work with MIQA leadership and sites to develop and implement practices that protect personnel, equipment, environment,

  • Ensure asset productivity and R&M elements are integrated into the business capital processes; work with appropriate stakeholders to develop capital strategy for regional networks; and provide input and champion support for appropriate run and maintain budgets based on the R&M strategy.

  • Work with sites and sourcing to help ensure corporate Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) practices are followed from delivery, quality and cost standpoint.

  • Work with site DPS implementation teams to help ensure implementation of Asset Care & Autonomous Maintenance practices is in alignment with corporate and industry standard practices.

  • Drive achievement of corporate metrics and targets through data and trend analysis, development of action plans, and using problem solving tools to drive performance.

  • Work with CPOs and BPOs to improve Maintenance and Reliability performance via integration of M&R IT tools and standard M&R practices. Drive sites to help extract the full value from the IT systems such as SAP PM and Meridium®.

  • Travel to production facilities for R&M training, trouble shooting, coaching, line-walks and strengthening relationships in support of the above stated objectives.

Communication and Networking

  • Collaborate with the Centers of Excellence, the R&M Council, and other networks to define & leverage corporate best practices, strategies and new initiatives.

  • Collaborate with MIQA Hubs, DuET leadership & consultants, Finance, Sourcing, SHE, and other functions as needed to ensure R&M advancements fit in with overall strategy and standardization.

  • Routinely interact and communicate with key stakeholders to review progress and gain support as needed to achieve business reliability, maintenance and MIQA goals.

  • Sponsor, Champion, and coach appropriate networks within business that drive execution of key deliverables aligned with the R&M strategyMay require up to 30% travel and schedule availability for Global (off hour) calls.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, advanced degree is desirable

  • Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to develop collaborative relationships, influence change and drive complex change management.

  • Fundamental understanding of PSM systems and appropriate asset classification and management.

  • Five or more years of experience in manufacturing operations with in-depth understanding of maintenance and reliability best practices.
