This position entails the operation and maintenance of the Hazardous Waste Incinerator and related support systems at the Experimental Station site. The Incinerator Operator will be responsible for the start-up and safe operation of the incinerator, digital control systems, pumps, cooling towers, process equipment, utility and electrical distribution systems.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitors and operates equipment and facilities,including field equipment, insuring quality and conformance with standardoperating procedures.
Maintains safety standards at all times and initiatesand follows emergency procedures when necessary.
Performs basic maintenance repair and upkeep on areaequipment. May perform advanced maintenance activities as qualified.
Maintains the safe operation of the Hazardous WasteIncinerator, operations of the DCS based combustion process, starting,stopping and operating process equipment, performing routine process areainspections, retain and apply knowledge of local, state and federalregulations on waste management (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, NRC, DOT) in conjunctionwith DuPont environmental and safety practices and procedures.
Incinerator duties includesampling, performing water treatment chemical analysis and maintainingproper water chemistry for a closed loop cooling water system, operatingthe incinerator in accordance with State and Federal environmentalregulations
Performs lock-outs and system isolations for DuPont and contractmaintenance forces. The Incinerator is operated and maintained inaccordance with DuPont Standard S21A Process Safety Management (PSM)guidelines.
In this role, one must have knowledge of combustion and mechanical process equipment and process diagrams such as P&ID’s and have the ability to identify and resolve/repair minor mechanical operating systems. Maintain environmental documentation as required.
This position requires lifting (excess of 25lbs.), climbing ladders, wearing PPE (respirator, hearing protection, fall protection harness), and entry into confined spaces. Normal work schedule is four 10-hour days but may be subject to change based on business needs. This position is classified as “essential personnel” and may be required to respond to operational or emergency situations on occasion.
The following are required:
High School diploma or a GED
5 years of operations experience
Demonstrated knowledge of combustion and mechanicalprocess equipment and process diagrams such as P&ID’s
Demonstrated strong communication skills in bothwritten and oral form including following operating procedures.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and onteams with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to utilize computer systems andsoftware applications (i.e., Lotus Notes, Windows) and the capability tolearn others such as Bailey DCS control systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learnlocal, state and federal regulations on waste management (OSHA, EPA, RCRA,NRC, and DOT).
Work requires the ability to climb ladders, wear PPEincluding respirators, hearing protection, and fall protection
Enter confined spaces
Handle/move material and equipment in excess of 25lbs.(i.e. 55-gallon drums).
Position is classified as “essential personnel” thisrequires to be occasionally on call to respond to operational or emergencysituations.
Must be able to meet Maximum Achievable ControlTechnology (MACT) regulation qualification requirements.
Must be able to work outdoors, holidays, weekends andovertime as business needs demand.
The following are preferred:
DCS Control system experience
Boiler Maker – Black Seal License
Process Safety Management (PSM) experience andhazardous material handling experience
HAZWOPPER training (40 hours)
Mechanical – Pipefitting skills
