Process Engineer - Capital Projects (Job Number: 194305W-01)


The Capital Engineering Process Engineer will support process development and Front-End Loading (FEL) activities for manufacturing improvements and capital projects that require complex problem analysis and solutions. The incumbent will participate on capital project and process development teams focusing on preparing basic engineering packages and contributing to safe, efficient and reliable designs of options to meet business growth initiatives. The role will also provide process engineering support for manufacturing facilities by gathering data, evaluating improvement opportunities, developing the scope, and implementing projects across the Electronics & Imaging (E&I) facilities.

  • Recognized as a leader in practical applicationof Chemical Engineering skills to such as troubleshooting, processdevelopment, scale-up and design.

  • Prepare basic engineering packages for projectevaluations.

  • Lead major process engineering efforts oncapital projects. Apply skills toaddress significant project complexity, and provide coaching and mentoring toless experienced personnel. Ensure thatthe safest, efficient, and most technically sound best feasiblesolutions are applied.

  • Work on Manufacturing improvements / issues thatrequire complex problem analysis and solutions.

  • Apply expertise in identifying, evaluating, andmitigating potential SHE and process safety hazards in conjunction with processsafety technology leader and business Engineering Science leaders.

  • Participate / Mentor as Process EngineeringDiscipline member on process hazard reviews for capital projects and existingmanufacturing facilities.

  • Evaluate preliminary business, commercial, orsite initiated proposals for capital investment to ensure they add value and touncover potential roadblocks.

  • Knowledgeable in the improvement and capital workprocesses.

  • Work effectively and efficiently with DesignEngineering, Process Automation, Project Management, Process Safety,Manufacturing, and other stakeholders in the execution of projects

  • Develop network of Subject Matter Experts (SME) toleverage manufacturing and engineering and R&D technical expertise to helpachieve business goals.

  • Develop a fundamental understanding of thevarious process technologies practiced across Electronics & Imaging, andleverage this knowledge to represent the needs of the businesses on project andprocess development teams.

  • Assist the business aligned Engineering ScienceLeaders to ensure implementation of business-supported projects as identifiedin the plant specific improvement opportunities.

  • Provide technical plant support in specializedareas including process simulation, modeling, risk analysis, and processoptimization


A minimum of 7 years of practical engineering application experience, can be in design or manufacturing areas. Travel requirements (domestic and international) of 25% of time are expected. Additional travel may be required depending on assignments and opportunities. .

Desired AdditionalSkills / Training in 1 or more of these areas:

  • Root cause investigation methodology

  • Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black)

  • Manufacturing or start-up / commissioningexperience

  • Exposure to project / engineering work processand deliverables

  • Technical knowledge of the physical, chemical,and work processes involved in achieving business objectives
