DuPont has an exciting and challenging opportunity within our Electronics and Imaging business for a Research and Development Scientist, located in Marlborough, MA.
This position in the Interconnect Solutions Research and Development group will focus on the development and improvement of chemistries and processes within the metallization research platform.
Research and development of new products, processes, and the evaluation of new opportunities/platforms.
Lead a project from conception through implementation and manufacturing.
Helps establish project plans, monitors performance according to plan and is accountable for delivering goals and objectives on targets.
May supervise or direct technicians or co-ops, or direct activities of a group.
Requires minimal supervision on assigned projects or programs.
Provides comprehensive analyses of technologies addressing all defined objectives within one or more projects in support of established Business Objectives.
Documents experimental plans and results; tracks project progress.
Technical presentations at company meetings, technical conferences, and customer/partner facilities.
Maintains a high level of safety awareness at the program level and is a vocal safety advocate in all operations at the department level.
Identifies opportunities for improvement or business gains.
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science with a broad knowledge of Inorganic Chemistry/Materials Science is required.
3.0 GPA or higher (on 4.0 scale) preferred
Post-docs and graduate students with expected degree completion within six months are encouraged to apply.
Experience at the post-doctoral level will be considered as will work experience up to five years beyond graduation/post-doc completion.
Unrestricted Ability to work in the U.S.
Applicable areas of expertise include: materials synthesis and characterization, colloid chemistry, coordination chemistry, electrochemical analysis, corrosion science, and/or design of novel composite materials.
Strong background in problem solving using multiple analytical procedures to identify and characterize product development barriers.
Experience with a wide range of wet-chemical and analytical techniques such as synthesis of novel materials, SEM/EDS, HPLC, rheological measurements, and surface analysis methods is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to analyze prior art and incorporate information and knowledge management tools and systems into work to maintain expert understanding of a technology/market area.
Recognized within the department or organization for effectiveness and credibility.
Effectively communicates verbal and written communications to team members and management on all aspects of program activity, including demonstrated ability to make clear, persuasive, concise, and well-organized oral presentations.
Strong knowledge and demonstrated use of statistical principles.
Must be able to work well in teams and to work independently with limited supervision.
Highly motivated and self-directed individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels in the organization.
Position may require some travel to international locations and customer facilities.
Position may require up to 20% travel to customer facilities and international locations.
